For those of you who don’t know, I love David Bowie. He is most definitely my favourite musician of all time. I’ve done terrible things to people who have insulted him, or even people who haven’t expressed their love for him as much as I deemed they should.
One of the things that really appeals to me about Mr. Bowie is his lyricism. He’s written songs about subjects ranging from Nietzsche and Lovecraft to cocaine to Jesus. He’s the perfect lyricist for someone who clings to pseudo-intellectualism like a safety blanket (ie. Me).
This song, “Cracked Actor,” isn’t actually on the album “Heathen.” It’s on Aladdin Sane (A lad insane) but this was the only non-live version of it I could find on short notice. It isn’t really one of his best known songs; it’s hardly known at all, actually. But I dig it and I think you should too.
In summary, David Bowie the man/woman/alligator/mama-papa coming for you/space invader etc.
